Hamako

There is a story to how I came to owning Hamako… After the decision was made that we would get a JAI, we put our name down for a show puppy with Tsoyu, making it clear it had to be the right dog and we were willing to wait. We had a couple of discussions regarding what my requirement was and one particular chat will stick in my mind forever… It was at Southern Counties Championship show, my local show and Maureen and myself had just gone off for a coffee and in tow was this young cheeky male JAI puppy. Oh he was naughty, couldn’t keep still and was a right handful, he made me chuckle so much, and I thought to myself, Maureen’s got her hands full with that one! How amusing, only a few months later I agreed to buy him in partnership!

Well, what can I say, when I clapped eyes on this boy, I instantly fell in love, for me he oozes breed type, so oriental in his expression, he has the most beautiful head piece for a male, coupled with an intense stare that just demands your attention and is so definitely male Akita. His construction as a youngster was all there and you could just see the potential of this dog, I knew if I walked away from this opportunity I would regret it. So we got him and haven’t looked back.

Hamako isn’t just a fantastic show dog having won us many trophies and ribbons not just in the UK but in Europe as well, he is also a fabulous companion… He has a clownish temperament, loves to play pranks, has an extensive teddy bear collection which he loves and cherishes. Being a very active boy, he enjoys scootering either with his Malamute friends or sometimes we go out by ourselves. A favourite haunt for his walks is Blenheim Palace grounds which isn’t too far from where we live.
